With all the fuss around that Server 2012 installation not being supported officially yet by the Intelligent Provisioning in Gen8 servers, i set out to try out my luck. It worked for me and the installation went on fine without any issue via IP. Just wanted to share the installation process:
Press F10 to get into the Intelligent Provisioning. Once loaded, you will have 2 options on the main menu, choose the option on “Configure and Install“. It asked for the OS, choose Windows and then Customize (in case you want to customize the partitions size etc) Fig 2 shows customized options.
Next you will get a page showing you the selected configuration as in figure 3:
It will then start preparing for installation and copy necessary files from Media. (Server may reboot after this)
After which you get the standard Windows Installation screen asking you to choose the OS to install.
Leave the remaining to the installer, Windows Server 2012 is installed.
It’s Done. You get the Windows Server 2012
