firmware of select Smart Array controllers. Here are the generic features it provides when SAAP is activated:
- RAID 6 (ADG)
- RAID 60
- Advanced Capacity Expansion
- Mirror splitting and recombining in offline mode
- Drive Erase
- Performance optimization for video on demand
To enable SAAP, you are required to have a supported controller, a minimum of 256MB Cache and a compatible battery/capacitor pack.
There are 2 ways to install the Smart Array Advanced Pack:
- Using ORCA (The Array bios, pressing F8 during POST)
- Using Array Configuration Utility
Below is a screenshot and instructions on how to install the License Key/Smart Array Advanced Pack (SAAP) using ACU.
Open the ACU (depending on the version, visuals will vary). As in fig 1, makes sure you are in the Configuration Tab.
Select the controller where you want to install the license to. You will see a Manage License Keybutton on the right, Click on that. It will take you to another screen as you see in Fig 2.
Now all you have to do is click on the button that says Add License Key, a text box appears where you are asked to enter the License Key. Enter the License Key and click on button Save as in Fig 3. This will install the License Key.
